PRESIDENT MESSAGE

With an intent to educate all so that no child (the future of India) remains illiterate, Saakshar Educational Trust (SET) is on a ‘Bharat Literacy Mission’, a basic foundation program that is free for all – literally. In alignment with our goal, ambition and objectives, the charitable trust has started a school with a mission to educate students from low-income groups, minority and underprivileged sections across India. Currently, almost 100 students are studying under this program from age between 10 to 20. The idea is to build an inclusive environment where children from lower income groups and class can easily avail basic education and become literate irrespective of their background, age and gender.

As part of this effort, we have also launched two flagship scholarship programs – Savitribai Phule Basic Scholarship and Saksham Bharat Advance Scholarship so as to prevent promising students from dropping out of school and colleges due to lack of financial aid or unwarranted situation that has led to temporary or permanent financial crisis in the house.

As we move forward in this age of technology and post-pandemic era, we also strive to provide open schooling to students of 10th and 12th along with skill education and online courses through digital mode. All these initiatives are in line with our vision to empower students from low-income groups and underprivileged sections across India (from remote areas and Tier 1 to Tier 6 cities) and create a talent pool for the future and work towards socio-economic justice via the educational route. While cherishing the efforts of each and everyone involved in this noble endeavor – the volunteers, educators, donors, parents, working members, state and district coordinators, we are committed to accomplish our goals alongside our aim to work in all the dominions of elevating a child’s education and lifestyle across India – from Nutrition and Healthcare to Digital Transformation, Skill Development, Sports Development, Social Justice and Inclusion.
